Opening paragraph

Jolene’s Philo’s book, Does My Child Have PTSD? is a gift for parents who are trying to understand and help their hurting children. It’s also a great resource for teachers, pastors, and others to help them recognize and understand the effects of childhood trauma and learn how to be supportive. PTSD can occur in children who have had medical illness, witnessed violence, or have had other traumatic experiences. Philo writes from the perspective of a parent of a child who has PTSD and with her years of experience as a teacher. She gives a comprehensive overview, including descriptions of both trauma and PTSD, a discussion of common myths, diagnosis, and treatment. The book concludes with a list of resources at the back. It is well-researched, readable, and hopeful.
