We’ll cover telling the difference between decorative and meaningful images, determining correct color contrast, and engaging in best practices related to language and the disabled body.

How can we craft digital communications to provide access for individuals who are blind, low vision, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HOH)? We’ll cover how to analyze the different access needs of people who are blind or D/HOH; how to prepare an accessible digital document; and how to determine the necessary resources for providing digital access.

About the presenter
Katie Smith is a field associate for Anabaptist Disabilities Network and a member of Central Church of the Brethren in Roanoke, Virginia. She serves as an Access Specialist at Radford University, a public institution of higher education nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Previously, Katie worked at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. She is also a person with Cerebral Palsy, a physical disability that affects motor skills.
