Awareness

A journey of learning

Awareness is the first step toward including persons who are perceived as different.  Three interrelated factors help build awareness in any of us:

  • Spending time – Devoting time to being with persons who are different, getting into their world as much as possible.
  • Alertness – Becoming attuned to and delighting in the many differences in people.
  • Learning – Gaining understanding of the variety of factors which lead to persons being perceived as different.

Although all of our resources are in some sense intended to raise disability awareness, the links below and in the right column highlight a few of these opportunities for increasing your awareness of particular aspects of living with a disability.
