Anabaptist Disabilities Network (ADN) is a ministry that serves congregations, helping them to become stronger through embracing full participation by everyone, no matter their abilities. We have just completed a five-year strategic plan, supported by our Building the Future partners and partner congregations, bringing us to the point where we are envisioning an exciting new chapter of our ministry.

With the help of MHS Association, we have secured a five year, $250,000-per-year grant to develop best practices and resources for including children more completely in congregational worship. This is our “All In: Immersive Worship for Everybody” project. A portion of this grant will help us sustain our current ministries and develop our infrastructure for the future beyond this special project. Our expenses for the year ending January 31, 2025 were $126,242.  We expect that our non-project related expenses will grow over the next five years so that as the project ends, we will be spending about $173,000 per year. This will support a full-time executive director, a half-time communications director, and a half-time office administrator.

To accomplish these goals, we need to expand our base of support, and to do this we are beginning our Bethesda Partners campaign. The pool in Jerusalem called Bethesda was known in the time of Jesus as place of healing. Crowds of people came to the pool to be healed. They had to be the first to enter the pool when an angel stirred the water for healing to occur. Jesus asked a man who had been lying by the pool for 38 years if he wanted to be made well. The man told Jesus he had not been able to get to the pool because someone always got there ahead of him and there was no one to help lower him into the water. Jesus told the man to take up his mat and walk. The man took up his mat and walked.

How might we change the church, so that we create communities of healing for all and remove barriers to our collective healing?

The church heals by embracing each person just as they are, with both gifts and limitations, and honoring their unique and necessary place in the body of Christ.

Join our mission of nurturing faith communities where people with disabilities are embraced and loved. Over 40 households have become Building the Future Partners and committed to an annual donation of $1,000, and now we are entering the next phase in our strategic plan at ADN with the Bethesda Partners campaign.
