Nelson Cowan, Let the Children Lead: Models for Worship with All Generations, 2025
This book offers five innovative congregational models that faithfully and engage children in worship. The models include praygrounds, sensory sensitive worship practices, outreach-oriented experiences, school partnerships in the arts, and leadership in band-led worship settings.

This book lives at the intersection of two conversations – preaching and intergenerational ministry. The author fuses these two topics together to offer a fresh new possibility for the church while offering creative ideas and best practice resources for intergenerational worship.

Roots & Wings: Intergenerational Worship and Ministry Resources
Roots & Wings: Intergenerational Formation Collaborative (R&W) is a five-year grant awarded to VTS by Lilly Endowment, Inc. through the organization’s Nurturing Children in Worship and Prayer Initiative. Their website offers a plethora of readings exploring how to create intergenerational worship. Additionally, they offer a tool kit to help evaluate how your church is doing when it comes to creating intergenerational spaces and identify next steps.
Messy Church is an ecumenical resource that enables people of all ages to belong to Christ together and worship side by side. They offer a variety of training and creative responses to scripture that are suitable for people of all ages.
The Soil and The Seed Project is a community supported ministry of the church working for spiritual renewal—in individuals, families, and communities—through beautiful, creative resources that help us together turn towards Jesus in the ordinary moments of life.
All In: Immersive Worship for Everybody is a project of the Anabaptist Disabilities Network that is invested in creating worship services that are accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Their worship resources offer complete worship services that are both multi-sensory and embodied. You can use these worship services in your church, home, or other places!
ADN was one of 17 member organizations of the Disability Ministry Network that participated in a congregational research project on accessible worship with the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing, funded by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Baylor published a resource for congregations based on the results of that research, Worship for the Whole Body: Creative Ideas for Multi-sensory Worship Practices. It is available for download in both English and Spanish.
